The crew on board Windcat 30 vessel, which is supporting O&M works on Centrica’s offshore wind assets, helped rescue a stranded vessel yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon, Windcat 30 was returning to its base in Grimsby, when it was radioed by Humber VTS requesting that it helps rescue a yacht in difficulty off the Grimsby coast. The yacht, called ‘Kiss’, was picked up and towed back to safe harbour, Centrica reported via social media.

Scott Pederson , from Centrica’s Grimsby Renewables Base, said: “The Windcat fleet helps our engineers get to and from the offshore windfarms on an almost daily basis in one of the busiest shipping channels in the world. The skippers are really experienced and always happy to help out other vessels that are in need if we can.”

Centrica is servicing Lincs, Lynn and Inner Dowsing offshore wind farms from its Grimsby Renewables Base. Even though the company is abandoning wind energy, it still has a stake in the Lincs offshore wind farm, and will be providing operations and maintenance support to Lynn and Inner Dowsing up to March 2017, after selling them at the beginning of this year .
