Axegaz of France said it has opened the first public LNG service station on the Lille-Lesquin CRT at the end of May.

The station is the first under the Axegaz European LNG motion project, the company informed in a statement, adding that by the end of 2016, the other public stations will open at Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, Dijon, Corbas and Orange.

According to Edouard de Montmarin , development director at Axègaz Solutions Transport, the network will consist of 49 stations in nine European countries in the long-term.

The facility is aimed at helping the French and other European carriers operating LNG fleets, progress the conversion to LNG.

Axegaz said the facility currently has a 20 cubic meters storage capacity and the ability to refuel up to 20 vehicles, however, in 2017 60 cubic meters of storage capacity will be added to the site, tripling its LNG distribution.
