DGI has decommissioned the hydraulic system it delivered to Bilfinger for the pile gripper used to install foundations at the Sandbank offshore wind farm site, after the installation works were completed in February.

DGI Doedijns supplied the complete Hydraulic System for the Pile Gripper Frame to Bilfinger Marine & Offshore Systems in 2015.

After the installation and commissioning, the system has been used to install a total of 72 wind turbine foundations for the Sandbank offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The system included a containerized Hydraulic Power Unit, control manifolds, E-control including a Radio Remote Control system with touchscreen, Piping and Tubing, Sensors, cylinders (up to 450 mm bore), hydro motors with planetary gearboxes, 2 x 20t winches, flushing and the complete commissioning and installation of the system.

Oscar Bik , Manager Offshore Hydraulics of DGI Doedijns, said: “The offshore wind industry is a demanding industry and often requires short delivery times. This project was no exception and we were glad to deliver the system within the short delivery time.”
