Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction facility, the first of its kind to ship U.S. shale gas overseas, exported 10.01 billion cubic feet of domestically produced LNG in April, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
The liquefaction plant located in Louisiana shipped its first cargo on February 24. In the period spanning from February to April, the facility exported 21.5 Bcf of domestically produced chilled gas, DoE’s export data showed.
According to the data, out of three Sabine Pass commissioning cargoes exported in April, two cargoes were sent to Argentina, and one cargo was sent to Portugal at export point prices ranging from US$3.41 to $4.10/MMBtu.
DoE’s April report also showed that American LNG Marketing exported 2,972 Mcf of domestically produced LNG in ISO containers. LNG was shipped from Miami, Fla. to Barbados at an export point price of $10.00/MMBtu.
LNG imports into the United States reached 34.76 Bcf in the period from January to April, all sourced from Trinidad and Tobago, the report showed.
