Iveco and Uniper said they have opened what they claim Germany’s first LNG fueling station for trucks in Ulm on Tuesday.
The energy company, Uniper, and the commercial vehicles manufacturer Iveco, said in their joint statement that the fueling station will be used in particular for endurance tests in in trials of “innovative engine concepts” for long-haul transportation.
The two companies intend to jointly advance the use of LNG in heavy-duty transportation.
Uniper’s Chief Operating Officer Eckhardt Rümmle r said the company is aiming to form more partnerships and build fit-for-purpose network of LNG fueling stations in Germany and neighboring countries in the next few years.
LNG is seen as fuel that will provide the fastest and most efficient solution for cutting emissions from heavy-duty transportation.
