Subsea-support vessel (SSV) VOS Star was christened on 27 June in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. The vessel was named by Mrs Lianne Maandag, wife of Evert Maandag, Vroon Head QHSE.

VOS Star is a DP2, SPS-coded, 68-metre vessel and one of two newbuilding SSVs to have been constructed at Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China. After arriving in Amsterdam earlier this month, the vessel was equipped with an active heave-compensated crane.

VOS Star will soon start its first charter in the subsea-support market, where it will carry out subsea cable retrieval and cable laying services for VBMS.

The vessel was delivered to Vroon in April 2016.
