The topside of the substation for Dong Energy’s 258MW Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm was installed on 25 June, Smulders reported.

The substation topside and jacket left Engie Fabricom’s Hoboken yard in Belgium on 15 June.

A consortium of ENGIE Fabricom and Iemants has been contracted by DONG Energy for the fabrication of the offshore substation.

The load-out of the 985-tonne jacket took place at the Smulders yard on 11 May. The jacket was transported by the Matador 3 from the dry dock to the Engie Fabricom yard, where it was placed on a transportation barge. On 30 May, the substation was rolled out and joined the jacket on the barge.

Burbo Bank Extension will comprise 32 MHI Vestas 8MW wind turbines. The wind farm, located 8 kilometres off the coast in Liverpool Bay, UK, is an addition to the operational Burbo Bank.
