Offshore Energy Today reported earlier this week that Petrobras brought the SBM Offshore-owned FPSO Cidade de Saquarema online by connecting it to the first production well on the Lula field, located in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil.

To remind, the FPSO headed from the Rio de Janeiro-based Brasa shipyard towards Lula in late May. The first production well was connected on Friday, July 8, and the output stabilized to around 30 million barrels per day (bpd) on Monday, July 11.
The complete scope of the Lula Central project includes 18 wells, 9 production and 9 injection.
The SBM Offshore-owned FPSO vessel is under a 20-year lease and operate contract with Tupi BV as well as an operations contract with the BM-S-11 consortium. The BM-S-11 block is under concession to a consortium comprised of Petrobras (65%), BG E&P Brasil – a Royal Dutch Shell subsidiary (25%), and Petrogal Brasil (10%).
The vessel has a processing capacity of up to 150,000 barrels of crude oil and 6 million cubic meters of gas per day, and storage capacity of approximately 1.6 million barrels of crude oil.
Lula is the second system for Petrobras to start up this year and, according to Petrobras, the Lula system joined the nine already operating in the pre-salt layer of the Santos and Campos basins.
