Brave Tern has completed loading all of the 5 GE Renewable Energy’s Haliade 150-6MW nacelles in France and is about to embark on a journey to the construction site of the first American offshore wind farm.

“Brave Tern is now ready for her first transatlantic voyage,” said Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s Vessel Master Tony Cato . “We will be sailing via the Azores and Bermuda to take advantage of the favourable winds and ocean currents, before reaching the East coast of the US, and anticipate arriving in two and a half weeks.”

The vessel arrived in St. Nazaire in western France last week to pick up nacelles for the turbine installation works at the Block Island Wind Farm, scheduled to start at the beginning of August.

Fred. Olsen-related company Global Wind Service (GWS) is in charge of lift supervision and installation of the GE Renewable Energy’s Haliade 150-6MW wind turbines.
