Finnish engine manufacturer Wärtsilä said its order intake for the first half of 2016 increased 1 percent in comparison to the same period last year, reaching €2.46 billion.
The order intake in the second quarter was up 3 percent from €1.16 billion in 2015 to €1.19 billion this year, the company informed in its report.
Wärtsilä’s net sales dropped to €2.16 billion, 2 percent down from €2.21 billion in the same period last year. The second quarter net sales were also down reaching €1.19 billion, 3 percent down compared to the €1,23 billion in the second quarter of 2015.
The company has not changed its 2016 prospects, still expecting net sales for 2016 to grow by 0-5 percent and its profitability to be 12.5-13 percent.
Jaakko Eskola , president and CEO of Wärtsilä noted that based on the current trends in its end markets and the increased uncertainty in the global economy, the company’s outlook for demand development remains cautious.
