Cheniere’s second liquefaction and export project, Corpus Christi, located on the U.S. Gulf Coast has reached 36.6 completion, according to the latest construction update.
Houston-based LNG export player Cheniere is currently constructing two liquefaction trains at the Corpus Christi site located on the La Quinta Channel on the northeast side of Corpus Christi Bay in San Patricio County, Texas,
Cheniere estimates total project costs of approximately $11.5 billion for the first two trains, including storage tanks, one dock and a natural gas supply pipeline.
The first train is expected to start operations in early 2018 with the second train expected to start producing the chilled fuel approximately six to nine months thereafter.
According to the June construction report filed with the U.S. FERC, engineering progressed to 98.4 percent while procurement progressed to 50.6 percent. Bechtel’s direct hire construction through June reached 8.8 percent.
During the month of June, construction focused on progressing permanent plant concrete and steel, underground pipe, and above ground pipe.
Activities planned for the month of July are on track, the report said.
