Offshore Wind Consultants Limited (OWC) has been employed by Transmission Capital Services Limited (TCS) to provide technical consultancy services on contingency planning and other services relating to the OFTO assets managed by TCS.

TCS manages six OFTOs, namely TC Barrow OFTO Limited, TC Gunfleet Sands OFTO Limited, TC Ormonde OFTO Limited, TC Robin Rigg OFTO Limited; TC Lincs OFTO Limited; and TC Westermost Rough Limited.

OWC’s scope of work includes preparation of cable repair and maintenance strategies for the six TCS managed assets, development of contract strategies for future maintenance contracts and the preparation of specification and tender packages for the supply of services under the above mentioned maintenance contracts.

OWC will also develop employer’s requirements for cable repair operations in different water depths and for different cable types.

“Our focus will be contingency planning that allows an effective response as well as timely and cost effective remediation to any arising issues around cable maintenance, repair and ongoing robustness and integrity. This is one of our core competences, and we are very pleased that Transmission Capital Services Limited has recognised this,” said Ian Bonnon, managing director of OWC.

“Latest data from the insurance industry suggest that cable issues currently represent circa 80% of claims by volume and circa 75% of value in offshore wind. Our personnel have over 20 years’ experience of installation and protection of subsea cables in offshore wind. This is augmented with a deeper experience in subsea cables reaching back to the mid-1980s. Whether our clients are developers constructing the transmission assets or OFTO’s reviewing for transaction or maintaining the asset; OWC are providing the expert support which is required.”
