A2SEA’s self-propelled jack-up vessel Sea Installer is currently mobilising in Liverpool and preparing for the installation of 32 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines on DONG Energy’s 252MW Burbo Bank Extension, the Danish company said.

The vessel is preparing to handle the new large turbines, which will make their debut on Burbo Bank Extension.

The turbine installation is scheduled to start in early September. The turbine components have started arriving in Belfast, which will be the load out port for the project.

Sea fastening for towers, nacelles and blades is currently being installed at the yard in Liverpool and Sea Installer is scheduled to depart at the end of August, sailing towards Belfast. A2SEA is currently establishing a site office in Belfast.

The installation period is scheduled to last for approximately three months, after which Sea Installer will continue to the next project, DONG’s Race Bank offshore wind farm.
