In today’s spotted we bring you the Hyundai Saturn, the first of five Hyundai Merchant Marine’s (HMM) ships in the G6 Alliance’s New York Express (NYX) service calling the port of New York and New Jersey through the Expanded Panama Canal.
Vancouver-based terminal operator Global Container Terminals (GCT) welcomed the ship to its terminal GCT Bayonne on July 29.
The 118,000 vessel features a length of 324 meters and a width of 48 meters.
The Saturn and her sister ships are the first Hyundai Neo-Panamax class vessels deployed on the Transpacific-US East Coast trade lane, all boasting a cellular capacity of 10,077 TEUs.
“Hyundai Merchant Marine has made a significant investment in building and deploying the latest generation of Neo-Panamax vessels to serve the vital import/export market in the northeast,” David Arsenault, President & CEO of Hyundai Merchant Marine America, said.
Serving New York as the first North American port-of-call, the enhanced NYX service connects the US East Coast market to the carriers’ network in Latin America and Central/Northeast Asia.
