Following the new Massachusetts energy legislation , which calls for 1,600MW of offshore wind capacity by 2027, entering into law , Deepwater Wind has appointed Matthew Morrissey, the managing director of Offshore Wind: Massachusetts, to head its operations in the state.
According to South Coast Today, the Marine Commerce Terminal in New Bedford, Massachusetts, could host the development of Deepwater Wind’s Deepwater ONE project, which would be built in phases over time, supplying power to both southern New England and eastern Long Island.
The developer of the first American offshore wind farm , located off Block Island, recently put forward its plans for the Deepwater ONE – South Fork project, which includes a 90MW offshore wind farm comprising 15 turbines and represents the first phase of the Deepwater ONE development.
Eventually, the project would grow to 200 or more turbines generating 1GW of clean energy.
