After installing the final wind turbine foundation at Burbo Bank Extension wind farm in Liverpool Bay, Van Oord’s heavy lift vessel Svanen has moored at Harland and Wolff’s Commissioning Quay in Belfast.
Svanen completed the foundations installation at the wind farm in July, and will now undergo repairs and outfitting at Harland and Wolff’s shipyard, ahead of its next contract.
During the installation works at the Burbo Bank Extension site, Van Oord used the so-called “feeder concept”, bringing foundation components floating to the Svanen at the installation site. The Svanen has already installed over 500 monopiles using this method.
