Cheniere’s Sabine Pass facility, the first of its kind to ship U.S. shale gas overseas, exported 47.76 billion cubic feet of domestically produced LNG in the first half of this year, according to the Department of Energy.
The liquefaction and export plant located in Louisiana shipped its first ever cargo of the chilled fuel on February 24.
In the period spanning from February to June, the facility exported 16 cargoes in total, DoE’s export data showed.
The data reveals that five Sabine Pass cargoes were sent to Argentina, four to Chile, Brazil and India received two cargoes each while one cargo each was sent to U.A.E., Portugal and Kuwait, respectively.
Export point prices were ranging from $3.35 per MMBtu to $4.54 per MMBtu.
DoE’s June report also showed that American LNG Marketing exported 11,147 Mcf of domestically produced LNG in ISO containers in the February-June period. LNG was shipped from Miami, Fla. to Barbados with export point prices ranging from of $10.00/MMBtu to $15.78.
LNG imports into the U.S. reached 47.4 Bcf in the first half of this year, all sourced from Trinidad and Tobago, the report showed.
