Scotland Gets New Design Engineering Provider

Envision Engineering & Design (Envision), a company that delivers design engineering solutions to, among others, marine renewable energy sector, has been established in Thurso, Caithness, Scotland.

The company has been set up by Mechanical Engineer Liam Sutherland and Mechanical Designer Stuart Anderson to provide full design engineering solutions using the latest 3D AutoCAD software to a range of clients in the nuclear, renewable energy and oil and gas sectors. Services include the design of pipework, steelwork, hydraulic and ventilation systems, etc.

Envision has been backed with an investment of £25,000 from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) towards initial start-up costs.

Liam Sutherland said: “Our team has over 80 years of combined experience in delivering high quality engineering design for different businesses. Working directly with fabrication companies, we pride ourselves that our solutions are designed to be easily manufactured and tested through rigorous engineering assessments.

“We look forward to developing positive working relationships with clients but also aim to develop markets further afield in the rest of the UK and we hope to create another three posts within three years.”

Claire Farquhar , account manager for HIE said: “Envision’s strong focus on innovation and the clever use of the latest technology plays a vital part in providing high quality services to key markets such as marine renewables, oil and gas and nuclear, all of which, have the potential to deliver significant economic benefits to the area.

“Along with our partners in the Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership, HIE has identified the energy sector as a key area of growth for the local economy and we are keen to support this good example of local people taking advantage of these opportunities.”
