Cryogas M&T Poland in cooperation with Iveco Poland and IKEA Distribution North Europe, recently concluded the road test of LNG-powered Iveco Stralis heavy-duty trucks.
Cryogas set up an LNG fueling station at IKEA’s distribution centre in Jarosty, while three LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks were provided by Iveco Poland, a statement by the LNG supplier Cryogas shows.
Each of the LNG-powered trucks entered service for IKEA travelling 40,000 km during the six-month testing period.
Compared to the diesel trucks, the LNG-powered trucks achieved a 7 percent CO2 emission reduction while completely eliminating particulate matter emissions.
According to Cryogas, a 30 percent fuel cost reduction has been achieved in the process.
However, Cryogas informed that currently, only three LNG fueling stations are in operation in Poland. The company plans on building a network of LNG stations along the main Polish roads by 2025.
Poland started importing liquefied natural gas in June with the arrival of the first commercial cargo to the Swinoujscie LNG terminal, country’s flagship project built with the aim to diversify gas supplies and reduce dependence on pipeline imports from Russia.
