Video: BP’s British Merchant LNG carrier transiting Panama Canal

BP’s British Merchant was the second liquefied natural gas carrier to through the newly expanded Panama Canal.

BP’s British Merchant was the second liquefied natural gas carrier to through the newly expanded Panama Canal.

The 135,500-cbm LNG tanker carried a load of the liquefied natural gas from Trinidad and Tobago to Mexico.

Although initially reported as the first LNG carrier scheduled to transit the expanded Panama Canal, the 161,870-cbm Maran Gas Apollonia, chartered by the Hague-based LNG giant Shell was the first LNG carrier to transit the canal on July 25. The Maran Gas Apollonia transported Sabine Pass cargo to China.

Panama canal recently informed that Teekay’s second MEGI-powered LNG vessel, Oak Spirit crossed the channel.
