Inpex informed that the installation of the subsea 42-inch gas export tie-in spool for the Ichthys LNG project has recently been completed.

According to a brief company statement, McDermott’s DLV2000 performed the lift of the structure measuring 75 meters in length and weighing 370 tons, 450 kilometers of the coast of Western Australia.

In a recent social media update, Inpex informed that the multi-billion dollar Ichthys LNG project in Western Australia is on target for the first production in the third quarter of 2017, adding that the construction of the LNG export project is 87 percent complete.

Start-up of the Inpex-operated project has been delayed from the end of this year as the company increased the production 6 percent from 8.4 mtpa to 8.9 mtpa of LNG.

The project involves gas from the Ichthys field in the Browse Basin off north-west Australia being exported to the onshore processing facilities located at Bladin Point near Darwin via an 889km pipeline.
