The video above shows the Engie Zeebrugge, the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel (LBV) in the world that will operate under the newly launched brand Gas4Sea.
Ordered in June 2014, the vessel is currently under construction in South Korea. The LBV will be delivered at the end of this year.
The Engie Zeebrugge features a length of 107.6 meters and a width of 18.4 meters. With a capacity of 5,000 cm of LNG, the vessel will be able to bunker vessels at the Belgian port of Zeebrugge, as well as other nearby ports. The new vessel will have an LNG transfer rate of up to 600 cm/h.
The new brand for joint marketing of (LNG) as a marine fuel was launched by Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line), French multinational electric utility company ENGIE and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation. The companies will begin operations in the fourth quarter of this year.
Back in 2014, the trio concluded a framework agreement for a partnership to develop LNG bunkering services.
The partners said that they plan to expand their LNG bunkering services under Gas4Sea into other regions, in collaboration with stakeholders including shipping companies, port authorities, terminal operators, regional suppliers, and local governments and regulators.
