A new marine operations terminal to support GLNG and QCLNG operations on Curtis Island near Gladstone, according to the treasurer Curtis Pitt and minister for ports Mark Bailey.

According to a joint statement by the two officials, works are already underway on the new marine terminal on Gladstone Port Corporation land, with an investment of AU$17 million by GLNG and QCLNG.

The terminal will cater for daily passenger ferries and vessels transporting materials and equipment to the two LNG projects on Curtis Island.

Civil works are being undertaken by Golding with construction scheduled for completion in May 2017.

Gladstone Ports Corporation CEO Peter O’Sullivan added that the state-owned corporation received approval to lease a parcel of strategic port land for the construction of the LNG operations facility, adding that the location has adequate protection from tides ad currents that could usually impact transit operations.
