The offshore high voltage substation (OHVS) for Belgian Nobelwind offshore wind project, also known as Belwind 2 or Bligh Bank II, has been installed at its destined location in the North Sea, according to Bladt Industries’ social media pages.

The company started working on the offshore substation in October 2015, following the financial close for the project.

As the main contractor for the offshore substation, Bladt has been responsible for the steel construction work of the substation as well as the overall engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the substation. The company built the substation in close cooperation with its partner Semco Maritime, which carried out the design, onshore construction and offshore commissioning of the high voltage electrical systems and all other technical systems.

The substation’s transition piece was installed at the beginning of August and Nobelwind OHVS left Bladt’s facilities in Aalborg on 8 September .

The 165MW offshore wind farm is expected to be completed in the second half of 2017 and will feature 50 Vestas V112-3.3MW turbines installed some 45 km off the coast of Ostend.
