Two Japanese companies, Chubu Electric Power and Inpex, on Friday informed they will begin supplying electricity to Seibu Gas, Matsumoto Gas and Suwa Gas sourcing power from Chubu’s unit, Diamond Power Corporation.
Seibu Gas, Matsumoto Gas and Suwa Gas are city gas companies providing city gas services in Saitama and Nagano prefectures in Japan, and all three companies will begin retailing electricity in their respective gas supply areas as soon as the preparations are complete.
According to a joint statement, Chubu Electric and Inpex signed a heads of agreement in July to cooperate in electricity supply and made a plan to supply power to city gas companies that supply natural gas procured from Inpex, through DCP.
Chubu Electric and Inpex now run joint business operations with a total of 12 city gas companies including Seibu Gas, Matsumoto Gas and Suwa Gas.
