German pipe production specialist EEW Group has won a contract for Beatrice offshore wind farm jacket foundations. The company said it had received contracts for all three structural steelwork businesses and will thereby deliver the total volume of structural pipes needed to build the jacket foundations for the wind farm.
EEW says that the company’s three German production centres in Erndtebrück, Rostock and Siegen, and both Korean plants are involved in the fabrication of the jacket foundations.
The company also established an assembly centre in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, solely for this order.
Additionally, EEW will produce 208 piles at its plants in Rostock and Erndtebrück for Seaway Heavy Lifting, the general contractor (EPCI) and the company responsible for the construction of the wind farm.
Denmark’s Bladt Industries, Belgium’s Smulders, and the UK’s BiFab are taking on the assembly of the jackets.
Assembly of the first structural pipes for the jacket constructions started as early as the middle of August 2016. The first deliveries are planned for September 2016. The expected production time for the piles is October 2016.
Beatrice is owned by SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) (35%) and SDIC Power (25%) and is expected to be commissioned in 2019.
