LNG exports from the three liquefaction plants located on Curtis Island off Gladstone reached 12.2 million mt during the fiscal year 2015-2016, according to the data from the Gladstone Ports Corporation.
Shell’s Queensland Curtis LNG project began exporting in January last year, Santos GLNG and the ConocoPhillips-operated Australia Pacific LNG project commenced exports in September 2015 and January 2016, respectively.
LNG exports from the three terminals totalled 1.6 million mt for the last 6 months of the fiscal year 2014–15.
The LNG trade is forecast to grow significantly in 2016–17 with all three LNG projects ramping up their exports as additional trains come on line.
Forecast 2016–17 export tonnage is 15.8 million mt of LNG, Gladstone Ports Corporation said in its annual report.
LNG currently accounts for 10.4 percent of the total port throughput, according to the report.
APLNG, QCLNG and Santos GLNG exported 1.51 million mt of the chilled fuel in August, up by 5 percent as compared to July. This was also the first time that the LNG exports from the three plants reached the 1.50 million mt mark.
In the January-August period, the three Curtis Island LNG plants shipped 10.89 million mt of LNG.
