Natural gas deliveries through the Nord Stream gas pipeline from January to October, 2016, totaled 32 billion cubic meters, an increase of 13 percent compared to the same period in 2015.
During the meeting between Gazprom’s head, Alexey Miller, and Han Fennema, chairman of the executive board and CEO of Gasunie, the necessity of new infrastructure has been discussed, Gazpom said in its statement.
The two leaders noted that due to the declining natural gas production in Europe and the rise of imports from Russia, it is important to build new gas pipelines to ensure reliable gas supplies from Russia to Europe.
Based in the Netherlands, Gasunie a gas infrastructure company operates a gas transmission network with a total annual gas throughput of approximately 100 billion cubic meters and operates in the field of liquefied natural gas.
In 2015, Gazprom and Gasunie signed a framework agreement to cooperate in the European small-scale LNG sector.
