LNG Engineer, KBR, on Monday, said it won a feasibility study that includes the possible expansion of the Singapore LNG Corporation’s liquefied natural gas terminal on Jurong Island.
Under the terms of the contract, KBR will provide feasible conceptual solutions for SLNG’s consideration and create a design option that could be scalable in the long run, it said in a statement.
This work is expected to be performed over five months, with KBR performing the feasibility study through a team comprising KBR’s London and Singapore offices, its Granherne subsidiary and the SLNG’s development team.
Greg Conlon , KBR president, Asia Pacific said the project aims to facilitate the growth of the energy market and the LNG hub in Singapore.
The Singapore LNG terminal currently has three 188,000-cbm storage tanks and an LNG jetty capable of receiving liquefied natural gas carriers with the capacity of 120,000-cbm to 265,000-cbm.
SLNG has also recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore for the development of an LNG truck loading facility at the terminal. The truck loading facility will be used to service LNG bunkering, and a variety of other industries that may require small volumes of LNG to be transported over land.
