Woodfibre LNG started geotechnical work at the former Woodfibre Pulp Mill near Squamish, the proposed site for its liquefied natural gas processing and export facility.
Under the works started on October 11, boreholes are being drilled on land and in the foreshore of the Woodfibre site to get a closer look at soil conditions in and around the structures planned for the proposed LNG facility, Woodfibre LNG said in its statement on Tuesday.
The results will be used as part of the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) for the project.
To remind, earlier in March, LNG engineer KBR has been awarded a contract for front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the 2.1 mtpa liquefaction plant and export facility.
The project, proposed by Woodfibre LNG Limited, a unit of Pacific Oil & Gas, which is part of the Singapore-based RGE group of companies, includes a 250,000-cbm storage tank and export infrastructure with three to four ships expected to load at the facility each month.
