Singapore-based Kreuz Subsea, a provider of integrated offshore subsea services, shared a video of its new diving support vessel (DSV), the Kreuz Challenger, starting its voyage from the construction yard in Tulcea, Romania to Vard’s shipyard in Søviknes, Norway.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery from the Søviknes yard in the second quarter of 2017.
The DP-2 vessel is of VARD 3 17 design and is capable of undertaking light construction as well as SURF and IRM projects. It is 91.2 meters in length and 21.5 meters in width and is equipped with a 12-man saturation diving system, Self Propelled Hyperbaric Lifeboat (SPHL), 100-ton active heave compensated (AHC) crane, and accommodation for 105 personnel.
The Kreuz Challenger, named back in September, is already under contract and will be used to provide Inspection Remedial & Maintenance (IRM) and light construction services for Brunei Shell Petroleum in South East Asia after delivery.
Kurush Contractor , Kreuz Subsea CEO, noted that Vard launched Kreuz Challenger on schedule last month and that building a vessel in Europe has several advantages.
