Qatar Petroleum said on Monday it has established Ocean LNG Limited, an international unit which core business will be marketing of the company’s future LNG supply portfolio sourced outside of Qatar.

QP said in a statement that the decision to establish a marketing entity to manage its future LNG supply portfolio sourced outside of Qatar was driven by its “aspirations to continue to be a global LNG leader, and to invest in LNG projects outside Qatar.”

A branch office of Ocean LNG will be established in the Qatar Financial Centre in Doha to manage and undertake the activities of Ocean LNG.

Ocean LNG Limited is a joint venture company owned by a QP unit (70%) and an ExxonMobil affiliate (30%), the statement reads.
