Optime Subsea Services has signed a contract with an undisclosed US-based customer to supply a new hyperbaric testing system (HTS) that simulates hydrostatic pressures found at water depths up to 14,000 meters.
The 20,000 psi hyperbaric pressure vessel will be manufactured at Optime Subsea Services headquarters at Notodden, Norway.
The contract was awarded after a competitive tender involving numerous international providers of similar systems. The contract value is undisclosed.
The hyperbaric testing chamber will have a diameter of 635 mm and 2,500 mm height. It will be delivered and installed at the customer’s facility by 2017, Optime informed.
“Our ASME and CE stamped hyperbaric pressure chamber design offer a light and very efficient test system, which is a significant advantage compared to traditional solutions. Combined with a unique implosion resistance guarantee, we can offer qualification and testing of equipment for the marine, subsea oil and gas, defense, aviation and other manufacturing industries where testing simulating deep water environment is required,” said Jan-Fredrik Carlsen , CEO of Optime Subsea Services.
The hyperbaric pressure vessel is a product developed by the former Telemark Technologies AS, which earlier this month merged with Optime Subsea Service s.
“Our hyperbaric pressure system is well known amongst Norwegian companies. However, as the customer in this case is a renowned US player, this contract confirms that our system has global potential. Our Houston-office facilitated the sale, which shows that we are already harvesting synergies from the merger,” added Carlsen.
