Seabourn Encore, the first of two ultra-luxury cruise ships being built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for US-based cruise line Seabourn, has completed the final round of sea trials off the coast of Italy in the Adriatic Sea.
The Seabourn Encore departed the Fincantieri shipyard on November 4 for three days at sea, where a team of officers and engineers tested the ship’s technical and mechanical systems.
The delivery of the newbuilding is scheduled for November 30, 2016.
Featuring a length of 210 metres and a width of 28 metres, the 41,350 gross ton cruise ship is designed to carry just 600 guests, based on double occupancy.
The Seabourn Encore was launched at Marghera shipyard in Venice in March 2016.
The newbuilding is part of Seabourn’s fleet modernization program which started in 2009.
The construction of the second ship, Seabourn Ovation, started in June 2016. The Seabourn Ovation is expected to join the company’s fleet in 2018, Seabourn said.
Seabourn, part of Carnival Corporation, currently has three cruise vessels in its fleet, including Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Quest and Seabourn Sojourn. All three vessels were built by Italian shipbuilder T Mariotti between 2009 and 2011.
