Wärtsilä of Finland has been contracted to supply a 101-MW power generation plant to Pampa Energía in Argentina, featuring multi-fuel engines running on natural gas and heavy-fuel oil.

The scope of work covers the delivery of a turnkey solution, including the engineering, procurement and construction, Wärtsilä said in a statement on Monday.

The value of the order is approximately €75 million (Approx. US$79.8 million), with the delivery in 2017.

The power plant is scheduled to be fully operational in December 2017.

Located in Central Piedra Buena, adjacent to the Ing White port close to Bahia Blanca city in Buenos Aires Province, the facility has access to Argentina’s high voltage grid and HFO that will be used as a backup fuel, which is important due to regular gas shortages.

Argentina is undergoing constant development of its power system and preparing for the entrance of renewable energy sources
