On December 2, 2016, Singapore-based Jurong Shipyard held a naming ceremony for the Pioneiro de Libra, a shuttle tanker which was converted into a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for a joint venture between Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore (OOGTK).
The ceremony took place in the Tuas area of Singapore, where the conversion of the Libra FPSO started in 2014.
Converted from Teekay Offshore’s former shuttle tanker the Navion Norvegia, the FPSO will operate on the Libra pre-salt field in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil, with estimated reserves of 8 to 12 billion barrels, Teekay Offshore said.
FPSO Pioneiro de Libra can operate at water depths of up to 2,400 meters, with a production capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil per day and daily compression capacity of four million cubic meters of gas, according to the company.
In 2014, Jurong Shipyard secured a USD 696 million conversion contract, which included detailed engineering, installation and integration of topside modules, installation of external turret and power generation, accommodation upgrading, as well as extensive piping and electrical cabling works.
