Maersk Drilling’s jack-up the Maersk Resolve has this week returned to the Port of Esbjerg after completing its work on the Danish North Sea oil and gas fields.
The Maersk Resolve completed its planned work scope for Dong Energy at the Hejre field in the Danish sector of the North Sea back in September and, as a result, Maersk Drilling received a letter of early termination from the Danish energy company.
Dong Energy, which is exiting the oil business , hired the jack-up rig back in 2013, and the original contract was scheduled to end in January 2017.
The port said on Tuesday that the rig would be positioned alongside Maersk Resolute and Maersk Giant rigs and undertake service and maintenance “while preparing for upcoming jobs.”
Port of Esbjerg became a port of choice for inactive Maersk Drilling rigs after the two signed a rig positioning framework agreement back in May. The offshore driller signed a deal with the port for the provision of positioning facilities for the company’s rigs during service and between jobs.
Maersk Resolve is a jack-up built in 2009 and designed for year-round operation in harsh environments and in water depths of up to 350ft. The rig is HPHT capable and prepared for Managed Pressure Drilling technology.
