At least 35 people have been rescued, while dozens more are missing after a ferry sank some 380 kilometres off the coast of Yemen, Reuters cited a Yemeni minister.
At the time of the incident, the vessel was carrying more than 60 passengers, including women and children.
The ferry was on its way from Hadramout province in Yemen to the island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean, Reuters cited the Fisheries Minister Fahad Kaffen.
Local media earlier reported that it was believed that the vessel suffered some kind of an accident which caused it to sink.
The authorities reportedly lost contact with the ferry on Tuesday evening.
Rescue efforts for the missing passengers are ongoing at the site.
