Brazilian oil giant Petrobras informed on Friday that the hull for the P-68 FPSO has arrived at a Brazilian shipyard for integration operations.
The hull for Petrobras’ FPSO unit, meant for the Santos Basin offshore Brazil, arrived at Sembcorp Marine’s Jurong Aracruz shipyard in Brazil on Wednesday, December 21. Jurong will conduct the fabrication of the modules and the integration of the FPSO, which consists of interconnecting of all the modules and platform equipment.
Sembcorp’s shipyard in Brazil won a contract worth around $674 million for modules construction and integration for two FPSO units, P-68 and P-71, in August 2012. The contract was for the construction of a total of 8 modules and module integration works on two FPSOs, which will be deployed on Petrobras’ Lula field, formerly known as Tupi.
The hull, built at the Rio Grande shipyard in Rio Grande do Sul, weighs 52,000 tons. It is 288 meters long and 54 meters wide.
The P-68 floating, production, storage, and offloading unit will have a daily processing capacity of 150,000 barrels of oil and six million cubic meters of gas. It will be able to store up to 1.6 million barrels of oil per day.
After integration, the FPSO unit will be transported to the Santos Basin, off the coast of São Paulo.
Just last week, Petrobras started the oil and natural gas production in the Lapa field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt layer, through the FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba.
