CHC Helicopter has lost a contract with the oil company Apache in the North Sea.

According to a report from BBC, Apache did not renew the contract with the helicopter operator, which accounts for less than a fifth of the company’s business.

Offshore Energy Today has reached out to CHC seeking confirmation of this report.

In an e-mail, a spokesperson for the company confirmed the report and said: “The loss of the Apache contract, whilst disappointing, has no immediate impact on jobs or on operations. This is one contract in CHC’s European-Middle East-Africa portfolio and we continue to provide helicopter services for major oil and gas companies.”

“CHC’s most important asset is its staff and we have been keeping our people fully briefed. Clearly, the North Sea continues to be a challenging business environment but as a global helicopter operator we remain well placed to deliver exemplary levels of service on behalf of our clients.

“As a part of our normal business we continue to develop a strong sales pipeline. Our immediate focus will be on securing additional business to best utilize any additional capacity.”

The contract has eight months still to run but was set to reduce in volume from 2017 onwards.
