The first MHI Vestas wind turbine has started producing power at the Nobelwind offshore wind farm in the Belgian North Sea on Monday, 9 January, Parkwind reported via social media.

The 165MW offshore wind farm is expected to be completed in 2017 and will feature 50 MHI Vestas V112-3.3MW turbines installed some 45 kilometres off the coast of Ostend.

Jan De Nul started the turbine installation at the wind farm, also known as Belwind 2 or Bligh Bank II, in late October 2016, the same month the wind farm’s offshore high voltage substation (OHVS) was energized.

Nobelwind is owned by Parkwind, Japanese Sumitomo Corporation and Dutch investment fund Meewind.

At this very moment, WTG K01 is producing! First production is a fact. #nobelwind
