Fugro scores IRM contract with Inpex in Australia

Dutch offshore services provider Fugro has won a five-year contract for subsea inspection, repair and maintenance services with INPEX offshore Australia.

Under the contract, Fugro will be providing subsea services to across the Ichthys facilities in the Timor Sea, located approximately 220 kilometers from the coast of Western Australia.

The five-year contract encompasses field operations support, inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services.

Mark Heine , Divisional Director Marine and a member of the Board of Management: “We are pleased to have secured this long-term contract, supporting vessel utilization in the current challenging oil and gas market.”

In its operational update on Friday, Inpex said it had completed the installation of subsea infrastructure for the extraction of gas and condensate from the Ichthys gas field. Inpex said that the final 49 kilometers of umbilicals and flying leads were laid on Thursday.

The last subsea network placement was spread across a 400 square kilometer area of the Ichthys Field, in the Browse Basin, about 220 kilometers offshore Western Australia.

The Ichthys LNG Project is a Joint Venture between Inpex, the operator, major partner Total, CPC Corporation Taiwan and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.

A Final Investment Decision for the Ichthys LNG project was reached in 2012, and first production is scheduled to start towards the end of September 2017.

The project is expected to produce 8.9 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per year, along with more than 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
