Aker BP, a new exploration & production player in Norway, has ben offered interests in 21 new production licenses offshore Norway.

Out of the 21 awarded, Aker BP will operate 13 licenses.

“Aker BP achieved a very good result in this round. We are very pleased with the award, which forms the basis for further growth,” says Senior Vice President of Exploration, Gro G. Haatvedt .

Of the 21 production licenses, 16 are in the North Sea, four are in the Norwegian Sea and one is in the Barents Sea.

To remind, Aker BP was formed by merging BP’s Norwegian subsidiary, BP Norge, and Det norske. The merger, announced in June last year, was completed in December.

Prior to the APA 2016 awards, Aker BP had a portfolio of 95 licenses on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, of which it operates 47.
