Siemens has awarded CHC Group with a contract for helicopter services in support of the work at the Veja Mate offshore wind farm in the German part of the North Sea, which is currently in the turbine installation phase.

Flights supporting the operations began earlier this month from CHC’s base in Den Helder. The company is carrying out the contract with its AW 139 aircrafts.

“We are excited to work with Siemens to support this landmark project,” said Mark Abbey , CHC Regional Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “Last year, we celebrated the successful completion of the Gemini windfarm project in October 2016 after providing nine months of support for construction of the new farm offshore North East Holland from Den Helder.”

Turbine installation at the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm started at the beginning of January and the first wind turbine produced power this morning.

The remaining 66 turbines will be installed and commissioned by mid-2017.
