Total gas sales by Japan’s Tokyo Gas reached 1,424.418 million cubic meters during the last month of 2016, a 7.1 percent increase compared to December 2015.
Volumes in the residential sector reached 364,363 million cubic meters, jumping 18.1 percent from December 2015 volumes, Tokyo Gas said in its latest monthly report.
The consumption of natural gas has been boosted by colder-than-usual temperatures in the midst of the heating season.
In the business sector volume totaled 215,386 million cubic meters, jumping 15.1 percent from December 2015, while the volumes in the industrial sector rose 3.2 percent reaching 634,096 million cubic meters.
Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled 210,573 million cubic meters, dropping 4.3 percent from December 2015.
