3sun Group has organised a special recruitment day in Great Yarmouth at the Kings Centre, Queen Anne’s Road where wind turbine technicians and inspection engineers selected from more than 1,500 applicants will have five-minute pre-booked speed-interviews to secure one of over 100 new roles within GBP 6 million of new and extended existing contracts.
Booked interviews will be held from 10am-12 noon and 2pm to 4pm, Wednesday, 25 January, local time.
A walk-in session for people with the relevant mechanical, electrical and tool skills will be held between noon and 2 pm,3sun said.
3sun Group chief executive Graham Hacon said growing demand from the industry meant he hoped to run similar-sized recruitment drives annually. The current campaign is the biggest in the company’s 10-year history.
The new roles are being recruited for multi-client contracts on onshore and offshore wind farms across and around the UK and internationally, in Germany and Denmark.
The company intends to export its skills further as the wind industry grows in China, the US and other markets.
Since the new roles were announced last week, the 3sun Group recruitment team had been sifting through more than 1,500 applications, Hacon said.
The first new technicians will start training immediately at the 3sun Academy in Great Yarmouth to work on the construction, installation and inspection of wind turbines with the rest joining between now and early summer.
“We are recruiting for long-term sustainable jobs based out of Great Yarmouth to support work regionally and internationally involved in both constructing wind farms and maintaining them,” Hacon said.
“The response to work with us has been phenomenal and we will be seeing some excellent quality candidates at the event. This is our biggest recruitment drive so far, based on the opportunities that have presented themselves in wind in the Round 3 offshore wind programme. We are looking for people with core mechanical, electrical and instrument engineering background who want a new career and are happy to work away from home.”
New recruits will receive standard Global Wind Organisation (GWO) mandatory training at and turbine-manufacturer-approved skills.
