The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC), the company that has taken over the leadership of the Alaska LNG project, hired former Senator Gene Therriault to assist in government relations.

Under a shared services agreement with Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA), Therriault will help coordinate legislative presentations and responses on behalf of the AGDC.

AGDC said in its statement that Therriault currently works part-time time for AIDEA on the Interior Energy Project and manages its interaction with the Alaska State Legislature.

Under the shared contractual agreement with AIDEA, AGDC aims to take advantage of Therriault’s experience while minimizing expenditure.

AGDC president Keith Meyer , “Gene’s prior experience as a legislator and his experience with in-state energy projects will be extremely helpful as we continue discussions with state legislators and work towards advancing the Alaska gasline and LNG project.”

Therriault was previously employed as a senior policy advisor on in-state energy in the governor’s office, working closely with the governor and agency personnel in order to ensure Alaska’s energy future.

Alaska Gasline Development Corporation is taking steps forward to progress the Alaska liquefied natural gas export project to commercialize Alaska’s North Slope natural gas resources.

The company is looking to kick off construction on the 20 mtpa project in 2019 targeting start up in 2023-2025.
