Minox delivers Egina FPSO water deaeration modules

Minox Technology, a process technology company, has delivered two water deaeration skids to the Egina FPSO.

Minox said on Wednesday that the compact modules were delivered mid-January from the ROS fabrication yard in Singapore.

Samsung Heavy Industries is transporting the skids to Nigeria where the water injection module will be finalized. The skids have a water capacity of 500.000 barrels of water per day (approximately 3.330 m3/h).

The contract between Minox technology and Samsung Heavy Industries the deoxygenation system was signed in 2014 and will become a part of the FPSO which will be operated by Total at the Egina oil field, in the Gulf of Guinea, offshore Nigeria. Start-up of production from the FPSO is expected in 2018.

Bjørn Einar Brath , CEO of Minox Technology, said: “The contract is one of the most significant contracts ever awarded to Minox and represents another successful delivery of our compact, chemical free deoxygenation system. We are now looking forward to good relations with Samsung and Total in future operations.”

The Egina oil field is located 130 km off the coast of Nigeria. The Egina project is valued at $15 billion and will consist of 44 wells connected to the 2.3 million barrel capacity FPSO with a 200,000 boepd processing capacity.

Total, with a 24 percent stake in the project, will operate the FPSO with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Petrobras, and South Atlantic Petroleum as partners on the project.
