Drilling contractor Songa Offshore has informed that the Cat D rig Songa Encourage is on its way back to a field offshore Norway following repairs of a damage caused by recent water leak.

To remind, following the water ingress in the rig’s pump room on January 2, 2017, the Songa Encourage has been at a sheltered location for equipment overhaul and inspection . At the time of the incident, the drilling unit was working for Statoil on the Heidrun field off Norway.

The driller informed on Monday that the rig is as of Saturday, February 4 en route back to the field and expected to be back in operation and on dayrate within a few days.

For the month of January, the rig achieved an operational efficiency of 4% and an earnings efficiency of 4%.

Statoil recently got a consent from the offshore regulator in Norway, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA), to use the Songa Encourage rig for well activities at Norne field, Norne satellites, and Alve. The activities include drilling wells for production or injection, well overhaul and other intervention work, as well as plugging.

When it comes to Songa’s other Cat D rigs working for Statoil in Norway, Songa Equinox achieved an operational efficiency of 100% and an earnings efficiency of 97% for the month and Songa Endurance achieved an operational efficiency of 100% and an earnings efficiency of 99% for the month.

Songa Enabler achieved an operational efficiency of 75% and an earnings efficiency of 75% for the month. The rig is currently suspended and estimated to start operations on April 1, 2017.

To remind, Songa Enabler went on a suspension rate in late December 2016 after completing operations on a well on the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea for Statoil.
