Madrid Spirit, Teekay’s 135,243-cbm LNG carrier, delivered the first cargo to France’s fourth liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in July last year.

The facility operated by Dunkerque LNG, a company 65 percent owned by EDF, 25 percent by Fluxys and 10 percent by Total, has since completed the commissioning phase and received its first commercial cargo at the end of January this year.

The Dunkirk LNG terminal has an annual regasification capacity of 13 billion cubic meters of gas, enough to cover about 20 percent of France and Belgium’s yearly gas consumption.

The facility’s jetty can receive up to 150 LNG carriers per year, with capacities ranging from 65,000-cbm up to Q-Max vessels with the capacity to transport 267,000-cbm of LNG. The terminal includes three 200,000-cbm LNG storage tanks.

To explain the operations process at the facility, French power group, EDF on Tuesday released a video of a step-by-step procedure resulting in the delivery of natural gas to the transmission grid.
